FFL Update: The Sport of Functional Fitness & Standardizing League Format Competition
Legitimizing the SPORT of Functional Fitness
The Functional Fitness League is one of the largest & longest running LEAGUE format Functional Fitness competitions in the world.
Not only that, but the FFL is actively working with the National Sports Organization - Canadian Functional Fitness Federation, as well as the PSO - BC Functional Fitness Sports Association on legitimizing the sport of Functional Fitness internationally.
Over the coming months & years the FFL will be integrating various aspects of the official SPORT of Functional Fitness, as developed by the non profit governing bodies listed above, as well as the International Functional Fitness Federation (IF3).
Though the FFL will continue to operate as a private entity (much like the NHL vs IIHF), we will begin to utilize CFFF & IF3 Certified Technical Officials as soon as possible, ensuring our competitors get a consistent level of judging & movement standards while also furthering the development and growth of the sport in Canada.
Standardizing League Format
With that, we have been through multiple iterations of what’s required to help facilitate the complexities of LEAGUE format within this Sport.
Before the FFL there was no ‘standard’ for managing a league… and though we have not yet perfected it, after running almost 20 seasons, with hundreds of matches, across multiple regions, and dozens of different hosts, team sizes, and regions - we’ve got it pretty dialed in. After utilizing every club / league management software on the market, nothing gave us the freedom that we wanted for our leagues to grow…. so we built our own, a couple times.
The 2021 FFL Season Base: app.league.fit
Though many features are still in the works, in it’s current shell form (with some quirks), it can still provide everything you need to keep up with your next FFL Season…
Season Details
Everything you need to know for the upcoming seasons including registration dates & links to Competition Corner events for leaderboards & registration.
Weekly Match Schedules
Everything your team or affiliate needs to know to run their weekly match! The schedule can be filtered by team making it easier than ever for your Captain to know when your team needs to be ready to throw-down or help judge events.
Workout / Event Details
Workouts are posted to Competition Corner - but full detailed breakdowns including equipment list & movement standards are all included in the FFL BASE to ensure consistent standards and smooth transitions between events.
Affiliate Roster
All athletes who complete the FFL RANKER will show up on the Affiliate Roster. Team captains can then utilize this list to build their teams & register for the season. We encourage captains to put together teams of athletes with a similar rank - this ensures an enjoyable experience for all athletes as well as an appropriately ranked & balanced team for the season.
More info on the BASE features can be found on the FAQ HERE.
Future BASE Updates
Currently all users are automatically logged in as ‘SPECTATOR’ to the FFL BASE. This is why you must access it via app.league.fit (fwds through the login page) and if you have any issues, just go back through that link.
The next update (which may go live this season) will include individual login for all athletes, and the ability to update their own profiles, team rosters / subs, and more.
We’re also working on the ability for athletes to RSVP to matches - to make it easy for Captains to keep track of who’s available for the bi-weekly Matches so we can help ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for Team captains herding Cats (we appreciate you!).
